SOC Club Championships 2023

Profile picture for user Helen Wheelwright
By Helen Wheelwright , 22 February, 2023

This year the Cub Championships will be held at the Sarum Saunter National event at Great Ridge on Sunday 19th March 2023. See racesignup.co.uk for details of the event.

Entries

Please enter the event via racesignup.co.uk. Enter yourself for the course assigned to your age group, e.g. if you are an M55 you should enter the Blue course. This year you may "run up", so for example, if you are a W65 but want to run against W21s, you may do but you will be competing for the trophy against other W21s in the club for the W21 trophy. See the table below for the list of trophies to be awarded. Please note that trophies will not be awarded for short courses, i.e. for age classes with an S after them.

Trophies

Champion Boy/Girl M/W 10/12/14
Junior Men/Women M/W 16/18/20
Open Men/Women M/W 21
Senior Men/Women M/W 35/40
Super Senior Men/Women M/W 45/50
Vet Men/Women M/W 55/60
Super Vet Men/Women M/W 65/70
Ultra Vet Men/Women M/W 75+

Results and Prizes

The event results will be available on the Sarum Orienteers website on the evening of the 19th March. The club championship results will be posted on the SOC website as soon as possible after that. Please note that where seniors running different courses are competing for the same trophy, ranking points will be used to decide on the winner. Where Juniors are concerned, a prize will be awarded for each age class. Trophies will be presented at the SOC AGM on Friday 24th March at 7.30 in the Crosfield Hall Annex, Romsey SO51 8GL. Other "spot prizes" will also be awarded.

At the Event

Unfortunately there is not enough room to put up a club tent but look out for SOC members bearing chocolate cake! This event is open to ALL club members regardless of ability or experience. It will be a good opportunity to come along and meet up with other SOC members. If you are new to the club please feel free to look out for other SOC members wearing their SOC tops and come and say hello.

If you are able to take group photos/selfies on the day, please forward them to me so that we can display them at the SOC AGM trophy presentation.

If you have any queries, please let me know at helenamandaa [at] gmail.com (helenamandaa[at]gmail[dot]com)

SOC Team for the Sunset Relay Sat 4th March.

Profile picture for user Kevin Bracher
By Kevin Bracher , 20 February, 2023

I am keen to enter at least one SOC team into the Sunset Relay on the 4th of March.

Teams of 6 are required with a minimum of one female member per team. Two times legs of 3, 5 and 7 km make up the relay courses with all but the first leg run in the dark. It is a bit different and lots of fun so why not give it a go!

If you are interested in running in a SOC team let me know ASAP. Contact me, Kevin Bracher, by k.bracher1080 [at] gmail.com (email).

More info on the Sunset Relay can be found on the event page.
