A fine morning saw 50 competitors enjoying Jamie Hicks' well-planned courses using a mix of parkland and urban. Many were surprised to hear that this was Jamie's first event as planner. There were some really great legs on the Short Green course with good route choice.
Thanks to Jamie and Colin Hicks and all the helpers at the event.
Organisers and Planners comments
It is pleasing to add a new map to the rota of areas we have available for the Summer Series. Also pleasing were the very nice comments we received both about the map but more importantly about Jamie's first time planning.
All the courses were well received and I think most competitors on the Short Green found both Pear Tree Green and the urban route choices testing.
It was good to be proved completely wrong by saying that Pear Tree Green was unsuitable for wheelchairs, when a junior completed both the yellow and orange courses in one! Also great to see some new juniors attending from one of the local schools I have been teaching in this term, and they have already decided they want to come to the next event!
Many thanks to all the club volunteer helpers, without whom there would be no event.
The venue of Pear Tree Church Hall worked well and we were even able to supply orange juice refreshment.
We hope to use the Church Hall again next Winter when we will be hosting a Wessex Night League one hour score on an extended map, plus a night novice (yellow/orange) course on Pear Tree Green.
Hope to see you at that event.
Colin and Jamie Hicks
Thank you
Another great event today, thanks to everyone for putting on.
