Summer Series Staunton Country Park

By Jillian Devine , 20 October, 2012
Date
Sat 18th May 2013
Type or Series
Parkland
Location
Staunton Country Park
Grid Reference
SU721085

Planner / Organiser Dickins Family

Courses
Yellow, Orange, Light Green
Cost
Adult £4 (+ £1.50 EMIT hire charge). Junior £2.

Directions: Follow brown signs to Staunton Park, located on Middle Park Way, easy access from Petersfield Rd.  Grid Reference is SU 721 087. Postcode PO9 5HB.

Car Parking: Use centre car parks as directed. £2 fee which can be used as refund for entry to adjoining farm if staying longer! Please Note:  There is an unmanned road crossing between the car park and the competition area. Take care when crossing the road.

Terrain: Due to the boggy ground and cattle ruts in some fields we don’t think this event will be viable for a wheelchair. Most paths are not great for wheels either (or ankles for that matter!).

Facilities:
Toilets are available in Staunton Farm ticket office (near main car park) and also portaloo’s not far from registration.
Refreshments are available from small café near to farm entrance, across road from the competition area.

Local Information:
The park is the site of Sir George Stauntons house, now demolished. The terrace remains and has been recently refurbished. The main part of the estate is the large housing estate to the south of the park. Within 20 years there are plans to build a reservoir to the north of the park.

Good pubs to be found in Rowlands Castle and Emsworth amongst other places.

Come early and do the Park Run at 9am, just a 5km warm up!

Thank you

Great event today on another area that I have not run on before.

Thanks to everyone for putting this on.
