Quality not quantity at British Schools Championships

Profile picture for user Colin Hicks
By Colin Hicks , 27 November, 2010

In previous years support from the Southampton Schools Sports partnership has enabled school teams from Bitterne Park, Redbridge, St Annes and Sholing to compete, but with the government in the process of scrapping SSPs, it was left to the parents to take 4 SOC juniors to represent their respective schools. The results link is available in the external news menu.

Sam Costley came an excellent 2nd in year 7 boys, with an early run he led for most of the event, until he was beaten by just 18 seconds. Tamsin Moran had a very good run to also finish 2nd. Tim Morgan finished 5th in Year 9 boys, only a minute off the podium. Jamie Hicks finished 13th and was disappointed with his run, however, he had run the previous day in the IOF Schools selection race in which he finished 8th, again disappointed, as his aim was to get selected to go to Italy next year.

Pictures show Sam and Tamsin on the prizegiving podium.
