Abbotswood MapRun

By Webmaster , 7 October, 2023

The Abbotswood MapRun is now live in the app and will be available for the next next months. Come along to the start at 6:30 pm on Thursday 12th October for a mass start or, if you prefer, complete it in your own time and just come to the Dog and Crook, Braishfield from 7:30 pm for the social.

For those new to MapRun, the free app tracks your route and will beep when you reach a control site. The app also displays the map, but most participants prefer to print a paper map from the provided PDF to navigate with. This means you can just strap your phone to your arm.

You don't have to use the mobile app though. If you have a compatible Garmin watch, you can download the course onto it and leave your phone behind. Or use any GPS watch to record your route and then upload it to the MapRun website afterwards. Or just print the map and run! With these last two options, you'll have to rely on your map reading to know when you're in the right place but that adds to the challenge!
