The South Central Orienteering Association (SCOA) is made of the clubs in the region covering Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, southern Wiltshire, Oxfordshire, South Buckinghamshire and Berkshire. SCOA pools the resources of the region’s clubs in order to provide coaching for juniors, training for officials, coordinate fixtures, organise our largest events, and generally support orienteering within the region.
Junior Squad
2022 JIRCS was held in Northern Ireland. Duncan Currie was the sole SOC representative. The SCOA men’s relay team came in third place behind two Scottish teams which is an excellent result. The results for the event can be found here.
It is hoped to have a training session in the New Forest during the weekend of the November Classic.
SCOA Championships
Mappers now get points towards the championships, similar to organisers and planners who have qualified for some time now. This acknowledges that event officials cannot score through competing at events at which they are officiating.
Senior Home Internationals 5th to 6th November 2022
The relay area will be held on Saturday at Hogmoor, near Bordon and the individual will take place alongside the Club’s November Classic, so we can expect to see some of the country’s best orienteers attending. We might even have a current world champion taking part. 60 to 70 competitors are expected from the four nations.
British Championships 2023 25-26th March 2023
To be hosted by SCOA at Hambledon and Cold Ash. This is a SCOA event, so all SCOA clubs are encouraged to provide personnel to help at the events, so please put the date in your diary.
SCOA league
The 2021/22 season prize giving is scheduled for event 2; the BADO event at Micheldever on 23rd October 2022. The 2022/23 season currently has 5 events registered.
