November Classic

Yes - there will be a string course and, having been down to Round Hill at the weekend to draw the map, it's going to be great! The theme is tentatively 'space'. We're hoping to provide a few other activities to keep children amused as well (although sadly I don't think the plentiful supply of blackberries will last another month).

We are planning on start times from 10.00 to 12.30. That gives us 150 starts on a combination of classes per course! If your start time is critical, I recommend that you make a note in your online entry either requesting a specific time or 'as early as possible'.

Absolutely - no need to pre-register for the string course. It's < 1km though (children go round from the moment they can walk!) so if you want something a little longer then I'd suggest entering one of the colour-coded courses either in advance or on the day (you can still go round as a familly).

As stated in the event details, there will be Entry on the day on White, Yellow and Orange classes only, subject to availability of maps. Starts from 10.00 to 12.30.

We offered Age classes for the benefit of the SCOA Championships and also offered open Colour classes. Competitors had the choice of age class to run against their peers or colour class if they preferred something different. There are 14 different courses with class combinations that include a colour and  one or more age classes. You will be running on course 10. We will be producing results by class and by course, so you get the best of both worlds.

The short answer is that you will have a competitive run on course 8, along with others who have entered one of the Short Blue, M65, W18, W45 and W50 classes.

There is common confusion caused because the term Course is sometimes used where Class is meant.

The Course is what you run around  - the bit the Planner produces - we have 14 of them this year.

The Class is what you enter.

Sometimes the names of course and class are the same.

Entering an Age class enables you to run competively against your peers. You can run up an age class but if you want to run down a class you would be treated as non - competitive. Open Colour classes are offered so that people can enter a class that will enable them to run competitively on a course of any length or technical difficulty that is available.

This year, we needed to provide age classes because the SCOA Championships is age-class based. We therefore offered both age classes and open colour classes, so you had the widest possible choice.
