2023 Spring/Summer League 05 - West End

NB: The MapRun files and PDFs were re-uploaded on Sunday 11 June so please make sure you have the latest version (with control 49).

The fifth event in the SOC Spring/Summer MapRun league.

The event will be available in the app from Friday 9th May 2023. For your run to count you must submit your results by the end of Thursday 22nd June 2023. After that you can still have a go at the course but it won't count for the league.

Location: Southampton Arms, 89 Moorgreen Rd, West End, Southampton SO30 2HG. The Start is 30 meters to the East of the pub on the junction of Moorgreen Rd and Raymond Close. The Finish is in the NE corner of the car park.

Format: 45 minutes, 22 controls total 450 points.

10 points for 1 to 9, 20 points for 11 to 18, 30 points for 21 to 24, 50 points for 49 and 50. There is a penalty of 10 points per minute late back or part thereof.

Map: the map is a 1:7500 Open Orienteering Map.

Terrain: the course is around the residential area, Parkland and on some small paths-some of which are becoming overgrown with vegetation.

Safety: There are a couple of busy roads on the course. Please take care when crossing. Under 16's to be accompanied by an adult. All fences are not to be climbed whether marked on the map or not. There are sufficient sensibly placed gates.
