The Compass Sport Cup Final will be taking place at Helsington Barrow, near Kendal on 18 October 2015. All club members are welcome to come along and run at this event and help us show the rest of the UK that we're a force to be reckoned with :-)

I have booked accommodation for the Saturday night (17 October) at Wythmoor Farm Camping Barn, near Kendal. The accommodation is basic and those who prefer a little luxury but would like to be close by might like to try Mooresdale Cottages.

The Harvester Trophy is an overnight relay competition for seven (course A) or five (course B) runners. This year, the Harvester is being organised by Wimborne at Rushmore Estate on the night of Saturday 27 June / Sunday 28 June. The Club has received a letter of thanks from Jackie Newton, BOF Performance Manager, for the support provided to Tim Morgan during his development as a young orienteer. Tim is now a member of the BOF Talent Squad. The Talent Squad is the entry point to the Talent and Performance Pathway. Tim's inclusion in the squad is a recognition of his potential to perform at the highest level in our sport.

Our new club O tops arrived today.

They look really good! I am really looking forward to seeing everyone running and racing in them.

The forty(!) of you who ordered a new O top should have recieved an email informing them that the tops have arrived and asking for payment. I will bring them along to tomorrows event at Mayfield Park and future SOC events to hand them out. Email me if you want to arrange collection or delivery for another time, especially if you want them for the JK.

Sprint O training on Thursday 26th March 19:00 at 'The Dancing Man'. Usual Thursday social after from 20:00.

The map and control descriptions for the training are now available in the members only document section of the website (or see the link to request a copy). Please print your own map and control descriptions.

Next Thursday, the 26th March, we have a Sprint training session planned in Southampton city centre near the Town Quay. It will hopefully get you thinking about how fast you can run, map read and make complex decisions.
The training will take a similar format to the two sprinterval sessions Tamsin Moran planned last year. There will be a number of small sprint loops for you to practise and refine your sprint orienteering skills before the JK at Easter.

The SOC annual general meeting will be held on at 19:30 on Friday 20 March at the Jim Hayes Hall of IBM Hursley Social Club. The postcode is SO21 2JN, and the grid reference is SU 421251. This is the same location as last year’s AGM.

The AGM will include elections for all Committee posts. If you are interested in standing the current appointees can be contacted for more information via www.southampton-orienteers.org.uk/committee.

The 2015 SCOA Championship will take place on 8th March at the SARUM Saunter, Sidbury Hill. Full details and the flyer are available here. Online entries at Fabian close on 2nd March.

The final event in the Summer Series is tomorrow morning at Hursley Park. Starts between 10:00 and 12:00.  Check the event page for further details and parking directions. The private road around IBM will be closed for the event so use the southern entrance by Hursley Primary School.
