This is an invitation to Club members to take part in weekly Club get together for coaching and other orienteering related activities starting on Thursday 4th October 2018.

A Diary can be seen attached. The program is a framework for the next 3 months and is flexible depending on the experiences gained.

All members, their family and friends are invited to the Club Barbecue and Orienteering evening.

SOC are running an Event Safety Workshop on Sat 2nd Jun.

You need to have attended an Event Safety Workshop before you plan or organise an event. The course includes a number of practical exercises and provides useful examples of good planning and organising practice that will be helpful to aspiring event officials and those who would like a refresher. I'd also like to invite members who might like to contribute their experience to the session (subject to numbers).

If you would like to attend please contact me as soon as possible and I will provide additional details.

The POCs at Itchen Valley Country Park are temporarily closed due to extensive Forestry work in the wooded area around the reservoir. This should be finished by the end of the year when this whole area will need remapping and I will get the chance to add some new controls and re-jig the courses.

The POC at Lakeside country Park is all finished but unfortunately they have still not decided how to sell / distribute the POC leaflets. If anyone is interested in trying the simple courses here they can contact myself and I can email them a pdf version of the map and instructions.

To celebrate the great achievement of 50 November Classics, the SOC committee would like to invite members past and present and their partners to a celebratory meal. The meal will be held at Bramshaw Golf Club (near Cadnam) on Saturday 11th November 2017 at 6pm for 6.30pm.

Keeping up the tradition from last year, we will be touring some park runs this summer. First up, the Eastleigh park run at Fleming Park on Saturday 24 June.

Wear your club top if you have one and come and have a fun run!

SOC are hosting the next event in the popular Wessex Night orienteering League on Thursday 12th January. The event will be based around the streets of Romsey, visiting a number of different intricate areas including the town centre and varying residential areas. The event is a 60 minute score with 30 controls to collect within the time limit. 

The event will be based out of the Phoenix Pub in the centre of town with good food and drink available for post race refreshment. Full details on the event page.

Please wear reflective clothing and bring a head torch. 

I'm aware there are a number of keys to the SOC Equipment Store (at Rollesbrook Gardens) in circulation.  

I'm pulling togther a list of key holders (and where they live) to make it easy for people who aren't designated key holders to make contact to collect / return keys.  

Please let me know by the end of September if you have a Store Key and the area where you live. If you have a Store Key you no longer need, bring it along to any of our upcoming events and I'll willingly relieve you of it!
