Sunday 4 November - November Classic, New Forest
Enjoy the delights of the New Forest – autumn colour, ponies and some of the best orienteering in the south of England.Â
This year we will be at Kings Garn Gutter, an excellent area with a mixture of open forest and enclosure (and a surprising number of contours). The area is good enough to have once been used for the British Championships but that was many years ago now and it’s quite some time since it has been used for orienteering.
The event centre is at Ocknell Camp Site – easily accessible from junction 1 of the M27.
14 competition courses are on offer as follows:
|
The November Classic will be used as a selection race for the 2013 Interland -see below.
Wayfarers courses will be available for entry on the day and a string course for young children. Both will be close to the event centre.
Compass Point, Ultra Sport and Tom's catering van will be there.

Interland Match - ENGLAND v BELGIUM (Walloons) v BELGIUM (Flemish) v GERMANY (Nordrhein/Westfalen) v NETHERLANDS v FRANCE (LNPCCO) The 2013 Interland orienteering match is on 10 March in the Netherlands. This is England's only match outside the British Isles. England competes annually in this six-cornered match against two Belgian teams (Flemish and French speaking), the Netherlands, the Nordrhein-Westfalische (NW Germany) team and the French Ligue Nord–Pas de Calais de course d'orientation (LNPCCO). The competition is truly a team effort spanning age groups from W and M14 to W and M65: 42 team members in all. Selection policies for the team, identifying specific selection races, are published on the EOC website.
Water will be provided by OCS/Radnor Hills who are donating it in support of Wells for India. Wells for India is a local charity which helps the poorest people in rural Rajasthan harvest rainwater during the monsoon for use in the dry season. Please visit their website (www.wellsforindia.org) for more details of this very worthwhile organisation.
